Carlos  el año pasado hizo una exposición también interesantísima con otro tema, pero esta vez se dedicó a los nudos. Y estos nudos que nosotros vemos, pueden ser reales o imaginarios, en cuanto a lo que significa la palabra “nudos”… El nudo marinero, que es fuerte, que es seguro. El nudo corredizo que es móvil y los nudos que nos propone la vida en distintas situaciones. Decimos el nudo en una novela, hablamos del “nudo gordiano” cuando no lo podemos resolver, en fin, los nudos que a veces se presentan como dificultades. El ha tenido la idea de mostrarnos los nudos a través de su arte.
En este caso vemos que ha trabajado con maderas duras, madera de urunday, de lapacho y de rostrata. El mérito que tiene haber aprendido de sus mayores como muchos que aprenden bien, como muchos extranjeros que vinieron acá con sus oficios y su arte y lo supieron transmitir.
En el caso de él sus ancestros le enseñaron a trabajar la madera. Fíjense ustedes con qué exquisitez, con qué precisión, con qué gracia trabaja la madera, creando estos nudos que tienen una exquisitez especial.
Yo a aquél le llamo “el hombrecito” (refiriéndose a “Lazo”), porque me parece que además de representar un nudo, representa una figura humana… Los tengo rebautizados a todos en cierto modo.
Todos ellos hablan de lo que significa un oficio, de lo que significa un trabajo serio…Cómo él aprendió y cómo nos muestra lo mucho que se puede lograr con la noble madera.

Last year, Carlos´s exhibition was also very interesting but this time, he devoted to knots. These knots we see can be real or imaginary, refering to the meaning of the word knots. A navy knot, strong and safe.  A sliding knot that is dynamic and the knots life presents to us on different occassions.  We talk about the conflict/knot in a soap opera, the Gordian knot we can´t solve, all in all, knots that represent difficulties. Carlos decided to show knots through his art.
In this case, we can see he has worked on hard wood: urunday, lapacho and rostrata. The value of having learnt from his elders, as many that have learnt so well from those immigrants who came to our country with their knowledge of the crafts and were able to pass them on to the new generations.
In the case of Carlos, his ancestors taught him how to work on wood.  Watch how exquisitevely, how precisely how gracefully he works on wood to create these knots, with such special richness.
I call that one “The little man” (refering to “Loop Knot”) because I feel that besides representing a knot, it represents a human figure...I have renamed all of them somehow.
They all talk about the meaning of craftmanship, thorough work...just as he learnt and he also shows how much one can achieve from noble wood.
